Located by the Five ways area in Birmingham, The Tolkien Apartment offers 3 bedrooms (Up to 9 people: 4 double beds and a sofa bed in the living room) along with a bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, a dryer and a living room. If you’re looking for a quiet and comfortable accommodation to enjoy your holidays, or you’re simply travelling for work, our private apartment is perfect for you and it’s available for short-term stays as well as long-term stays. Business speed WiFi as well as free parking spots in front of the Apartment are also available.

The name Tolkien comes from one of the best authors in the world: J.R.R Tolkien. He’s the author of the famous book called the Hobbit and the epic work The Lord of the Rings which was voted the most popular book of the twentieth century. When he was a kid, Tolkien was living very close to our apartment for the reason that his mother was taking him and his brother to The Oratory of Saint Philip Neri, that you can see from our living room and our kitchen. By playing in the neighborhood, Tolkien became very familiar with the two towers that are visible from the bedrooms: Perrott’s Folly and Edgbaston, he used them as an inspiration in the Lord of the Rings. Down Hagley road, right on the corner of our street, you can find the Plough & Harrow Hotel, an important place for Tolkien too, as he used to live there after his studies.

If you’re attending conferences or events, you might also want to stop over the International Convention Center (ICC), the National Indoor Arena (NIA) -Both 15 mins by foot from home- and the National Exhibition Center (NEC) -9 mins by train from New St or 20 mins by car from home-.

Other interesting places nearby include the Botanical Garden of Birmingham, situated just 5 minutes away from our location, the National Sea life Center, an aquarium that’s a 20 minutes walk away from us or the famous St Martin church right in the city center.

The Birmingham University South Campus is situated just a 5 minutes walk away, which is great for students.

Right on the corner of our street, you can find 24-hour supermarkets, 2 Chinese Restaurants with Take Away food, Italian restaurants, pizzerias, a Subway branch, an Indian restaurant, 2 Iranian ones and a bus stop that gives you a quick access to the other side of the city. We are also right next door to a 24-hour taxi company (Very convenient when Uber does not work or at night since we have special fares as well) but if you feel more like walking, the city center of Birmingham is only 25 minutes away where you’ll find New Street railway station and Birmingham coach station.
